Weighing Farcaster acquisition pros and cons.. Cons: - Loss of key talent including founders - Loss of warchest (assuming merkle either kept most of the fundraise to build something else or returned to investors) - Risks/complexity of transition - Overall bearish for DeSo (if merkle (and the broader community) couldn't figure it out in 5 years with $150m, can anyone?) Pros: - Some key talent retained, and new talent + leadership added - Farcaster + Neynar have revenues, and can likely self-sustain, raise additional funding, or be acquired themselves - Neynar team has intimate experience with the protocol and infra - Gut says that Neynar will more focused on the protocol and builder ecosystem than the app. TBD if that's valid or will work out, but I'm for one am here for it. - Feels like a local bottom for DeSo and potentially start of a new wave (could be wishful thinking) - At the very least, it's a breath of fresh air Overall it's a mixed bag, and only time will tell. Still think Farcaster has the best shot at cracking the code, and will keep doing what I can to support the mission. Upward and onward 🚀
