Every time I hear about people becoming more religious, it often seems driven by a lack of community and purpose in their secular lives. Religion fulfills these needs effectively, but it comes with a price.

To embrace it, you often have to set aside critical thinking and to believe in the spaghetti monster in the sky. It's a trade-off that makes sense for many: gaining community and purpose while sacrificing some degree of critical thinking
