We knew we wanted to do a launch that was less extractive and more aligned than the traditional playbook. With the traditional playbook, you give out a lot of tokens for them to end up in the hands of people who are not aligned with your community 

Instead, we decided to do an airdrop in two parts:
1) To communities that we knew were aligned. We airdropped to the project/DAO treasuries so that they could decide the best way to engage their own members
2) To Aerodrome voters, who bootstrapped liquidity

This led to a launch that was far more efficient and aligned than the usual playbook. In hindsight it feels pretty obvious, but many people thought it was too risky so no project before us had decided to take the leap

I hope that the tokens go toward a flywheel where communities learn about SYND, they use chains built on top of SYND, and then SYND chains have more users. We will see!

Why did @syndicate decide to use a novel airdrop strategy (airdropping to aligned communities instead of individuals) and how do you think this decision will shape the overall growth of the token and the network? 

What are some interesting ways you would like to see airdropped communities use the token?

We airdropped to a wallet provided by Farcaster, they decide how they want to manage or distribute the tokens! It’s up to them

This lets communities decide the best way to handle the airdrop for themselves, instead of us choosing for them

@bankr is giving it out to Bankr Club members for example

What is the criteria for farcaster user to get $SYND airdrop?

It depends on the project! But various projects are:
* Helping bring new members into Syndicate's community via airdrops of SYND (such as @bankr)
* Setting up their own chains that are powered by SYND (More soon 🤐) 
* Helping SYND bootstrap its liquidity (such as @aerodrome)

What do you recommend web3 communities with experience like @floc do to become part of the Syndicate ecosystem?

We work closely with @aerodrome which does have support for Arrakis! Syndicate is not directly using it at this moment but some Aerodrome users who hold SYND are

Are you guys using any AMM like for example arrakis.fi ?

Commons Chain is Syndicate's smart rollup for staking: https://docs.syndicate.io/en/docs/commons/basic-information

Staking systems often have huge opportunities for MEV. Racing to be the last to vote or the first to claim is very common, since staking systems lock and unlock at certain times

That MEV often gets captured by third parties, not the community itself. Commons Chain is our testbed for making customizations that let the community benefit from this activity, instead of having it leak away

(In addition, it makes it so that every SYND staker uses a chain on Syndicate's Network, helping with awareness/growth for the entire network too!)

What makes the Commons Chain unique? And how do you see this in relation to ecosystems like the Superchain?

Airdrop to DAOs was on Ethereum Mainnet, incentives via Aerodrome were on Base. Most of the liquidity is on Base

Hey Will, would love to do an AMA call with you (or someone from your team) for the @arbitrum DAO. Just sent you a DM about that.

1. what's the functional (not where you settle) difference between Syndicate and Base's Appchains? Why would I as an app developer choose one or the other?

2. As an L2 on Arbitrum, why push SYND on Base? I know it's bridged, but I'm curious as to that decision.

3. What learnings do you have from Degen Chain for others interested in building an appchain with Syndicate?

Regarding the staking mechanism design for SYND tokens:
What impact would it have if SYND tokens were not usable on the application chain?
Are there any other potential use cases for SYND tokens?
Are you planning to develop PFP (profile picture) NFTs related to SYND?
What kind of applications would you like to see SYND integrated into?

My understanding is that $SYND is like a proof of concept for the infra that you've built.  Is that right?  Is there any other utility to the token?

BTW, thanks so much for the AGLD airdrop. I remodeled my bathroom with it and my family is grateful.
