Specialists from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a technology for creating bionic prostheses with a neural interface. The study was published in the journal Nature Medicine. According to MIT biophysicist Hugh Herr, amputees typically don't come to associate prosthetics with parts of their body. This is due to the fact that a person does not feel it as a healthy limb. Experts have created a bionic prosthesis with neural interface support. The operation proposed by scientists takes place in two stages. Immediately after amputation, the prosthesis is attached to the ankle joint and calf muscles. In the second stage, the patient is fitted with an implant that transmits data from the brain to the prosthesis. This allows you to control the prosthesis literally with the power of thought, without thinking about routine actions - for example, climbing stairs.
