Today’s #admired work is “Ruins of Empire II or the Earth Swallows the Master’s House” (2024) [earth, steel, & binder] by Kiyan Williams which I caught at the Whitney Biennial this week.

Everything returns to the earth, is consumed by it. The built, the builders, & those foolish enough to think themselves more enduring than either. Loved this piece and how its materials play into its message. It’s massive and imposing but also very temporary.

It’s May Day / Labor Day (plus the day following some momentous campus actions) so for today’s #collected “Dystop(!)a” by Amanda Homem seems apropos. I like this work for the multitude of ways it can be interpreted. https://objkt.com/tokens/hicetnunc/118056
