It acts as a kind of “digital trophy” or credential. ▫️Community & network effects: By giving these OG badges, Farcaster builds a sense of community, loyalty, and aligns incentives for early users to remain engaged (thus strengthening the protocol). ▫️Eligibility for future rewards/airdrops: Many in the community believe that holding the OG NFT may increase your chances of being eligible for future rewards, drops, or special access within the Farcaster ecosystem. (Though this is not strictly guaranteed by Farcaster in all cases; some commentary is speculative). ▫️Tradable asset: The OG NFTs are tradable on secondary markets (e.g., OpenSea) and have resale value, meaning ownership also carries a collectible/financial component. ▫️Access/Privileges: For some variants like the “Pro” drop, it seems tied to a paid subscription tier and thus may confer access to premium features (e.g., in the Pro membership announcement: longer posts, more embeds) within the protocol or ecosystem.
