If you live in Texas, since July 2024 you have an unwaivable legal right to download your digital data in a *readily usable format* that allows you to transmit it elsewhere *without hindrance*. 541.051(b)(4) Texas Data Privacy and Security Act: "A controller shall comply with an authenticated consumer request to exercise the right to obtain a copy of the consumer's personal data [...] in a portable and [...] readily usable format that allows the consumer to transmit the data to another controller without hindrance" 19 other states covering most of the US population have passed similar laws.
