U.S. Senator Lummis suggests the U.S. buy 1 million Bitcoins to reduce the national debt
NASHVILLE - U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis plans to introduce legislation calling for the creation of a “strategic Bitcoin reserve” that would reduce the United States national debt by purchasing 1 million Bitcoin (BTC) over five years.
Bitcoin would be held for at least 20 years, she said.
“This is the solution. This is the answer. This is the moment of our purchase in Louisiana,” the senator from Wyoming said on stage after former President Donald Trump spoke and endorsed the idea of a Bitcoin reserve .
At current prices, 1 million Bitcoin is worth about 68 billion dollars.
