https://dl.acm.org/doi/10.1145/3771565 Perhaps this is the first peer‑reviewed academic study on Farcaster—accepted by ACM SIGMETRICS 2026 and officially published today—specifically examining pluralistic tokenomics enabled by Farcaster’s modular wallet-binding mechanism. The paper analyzes public datasets of social interactions and on-chain transactions up to May 2025, preceding the Snapchain transition and the launch of newer token projects such as $NOICE. Despite that cutoff, it investigates three major token incentive mechanisms—inter-user tipping, third-party algorithmic rewards, and Farcaster’s official USDC rewards—focusing on five prevalent tokens: $DEGEN, $MOXIE, $HIGHER, $TN100X, and $USDC, detected by spatial and temporal metrics such as clustering and entropy. Hope this work helps practitioners in Web3 and researchers in academia better understand how to build sustainable decentralized social networks by leveraging robust token economics. I found a large proportion (grey bars, almost 100%) of fids were deleted, which were registered in the first month of Farcaster's public registration period (Oct-Nov 2023) . Anyone have some insights into this phenomenon? We identified this interval spanning from FID 24277 to 187685, encompassing 163,410 FIDs, which represents 18.5% of the total FIDs. I am curious whether they were proper registrations or some special function/test used by developers/builders? @v @dwr @woj

Farcaster Tokenomics One interesting question: beyond speculative memecoins, which tokens have meaningful utility for the community? One way to kick-start is to see those rank top by transactions between real farcaster users (excluding txns happened between users and dex or wallets not connected to an fid)
