Nice article. Farcaster is an open field for tokenomics expriments. It is good to see more rewarding mechanism playing in this platform.

I analyzed the relationship between the decline in storage fee prices and the percentage of daily registered FIDs that later got flagged as spam accounts. The data shows that since November 7, 2023, following three rounds of price reductions, the spam ratio has noticeably increased. **Chart 1** uses the intersection of the Warpcast Spam Label and the OpenRank offchain score (spam is manually defined as below the 40th percentile). **Chart 2** uses the Neynar score (also using a 40th percentile threshold). Interestingly, after the final price drop breakpoint in August 2024, the spam defined under Neynar's criteria significantly decreased. The reason for this is still unknown—perhaps it has something to do with the initiation of algorithmic mechanism? Given that Subscription Pro might lead to further storage fee reductions or even elimination, I’m curious whether there are any spam moderation measures implemented at the protocol or client level. @dwr.eth

Interestingly, there are competing ideas in the comments: whether or not to add custom tokens. From the perspective of mental accounting in behavioral economics, tipping with $USDC, despite using the same actual value, feels less intuitive compared to other tokens (especially memecoins), making users less inclined to tip. This is why reward tokens like $Degen, $HAM, $Higher, and $HUNT gained popularity. However, tipping with low-value memecoins can burden or even endanger the recipient’s wallet (e.g., scam tokens with backdoors). Balancing these trade-offs, I support Farcaster officially curating a list of reliable tokens for tipping—offering freedom of choice while ensuring safety.

Account lockouts and malicious attacks on Twitter/X have become increasingly common. I recently recommended Farcaster to a community of 20,000 people and received a very positive response – it’s clear there’s a real need for decentralized social media. While I successfully onboarded some new users, I also received valuable negative feedback. For example, while Farcaster can link to Twitter accounts and display Twitter posts, the compatibility and display of Farcaster (Warpcast) accounts and posts on Twitter isn’t yet seamless. This is making many people hesitant to adopt Farcaster as their primary information source. Hopefully, this will improve in the future (though it largely depends on technical improvements on Twitter’s end). @dwr.eth @v

The token tag feature in Warpcast is cool. But I think it would be much more meaningful if the ranking could integrate more information about the token such as holder count, liquidity, sentiment and utility, or even the project vision underlying the token. Currentyly, the default ranking is merely based on market cap, which is easily manipulated by few whale holders. The example here shows that the counterfeit token with only dozen holders ranks top 1, while the real OG token falls behind it. I believe this improvement could support farcaster to be more user-friendly and insightful for web3 social communities. @dwr.eth @v
