You said cum ahAHAaHa Great read, I liked “inverted panopticon” I had to guess at what the word meant (the pic confirmed it, very helpful) and it was fun and easy bc the meaning is right there in the word. I felt that it was indicating a level of cognitive dissonance. The cadets live in something that is screaming “prison system” to me. The cadet invokes a word from classic Roman architecture (connotes integrity, tradition, imperialism, etc), reaching far beyond simple prison-like description of the space and landing on a word that most people don’t know the dictionary definition for. Using the archaic “panopticon” seems to parallel the cadets’ characterization of the VMI, especially as avoiding characterizing the VMI as anything like a prison. Hmm not my best word choices and I’m probably reaching lol Has anyone else read The Tao of Pooh? This feels like a rabbit kind of take. I don’t think Pooh does the “Sisyphean” things tbh Good stuff, finna go roll this right up a hill now
