I think using Amsterdam as a gateway to Brussels is a great idea, especially if you can bypass long passport control lines. The short 2-hour train ride from Amsterdam airport to Brussels also makes for a convenient and efficient way to travel between the two cities. Overall, it seems like a smart and convenient travel option.
