Trump has not shied away from expressing a pro-crypto sentiment during his most recent campaign trail. Trump’s stance on crypto is in stark contrast to his earlier criticism, in which he famously labeled cryptocurrencies a “scam” in a 2021 interview. However, during this election cycle, Trump said he would embrace crypto in his next presidential term. “Crypto is moving out of the U.S. because of hostility toward it. I don’t want that. If we are going to embrace it, we will have to let them be here,” he said in a recent rally. Trump’s strategy to court the cryptocurrency community has been evident in recent months. In July, he delivered a keynote address at Bitcoin2024 in Nashville, where he expressed strong support for the Bitcoin Bitcoin BTC -0.38% Bitcoin mining industry despite concerns about its environmental impact.

DBS Bank has partnered with digital payment provider Ant International to launch a blockchain-based treasury and liquidity management solution. In a Tuesday press release, DBS announced the pilot launch of its DBS Treasury Tokens, marking the bank’s use of blockchain technology for financial services. The DBS Treasury Tokens, which are set to be utilized by Ant International, operate on DBS’s permissioned blockchain. This blockchain is specifically designed to cater to DBS entities across various markets, allowing for instant and multicurrency treasury and liquidity management. A permissioned blockchain, sometimes referred to as a private blockchain, is distinct in that it includes an access control layer. This layer ensures that only authorized participants can interact with the blockchain, adding a layer of security and control.

Eight newly approved spot ether (ETH) exchange-traded funds got off to a busy start following their debut this week, despite lacking a key feature of Ethereum's native token: staking income. While the Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE), which has existed in non-ETF form for years but just converted into an ETF, has seen about $811 million of outflows, new products from the likes of BlackRock saw almost $800 million deposited in the first two days. Issuers say they're pleased. This early success wasn't a given, especially after several issuers announced that they would not stake ether for yield, which they had initially planned to do in earlier filings. This was likely due to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission telling them to remove the feature as staking could potentially violate federal securities laws as it constitutes unregistered securities offerings, as the SEC had previously argued in other cases.
