📌 Why No One Should Be Calling Puti 1. Macron broke a 2.5-year silence and spoke with Putin on July 1, 2025. It was called a “substantial” conversation about Iran and Ukraine. But just like in the past — nothing changed. These talks don’t stop the war; they only seem to intensify it. (Reuters, Welt) 2. German CDU leader Friedrich Merz strongly criticized any talks with Putin, reminding us of a horrifying moment: after one such phone call in 2024, Russia launched missiles at Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital in Kyiv — a pediatric oncology center. This happened right after Chancellor Scholz’s call and Orban’s visit to Moscow. 3. Putin doesn’t see these calls as diplomacy — he sees them as submission. Each one reinforces his belief that world leaders are coming to him in defeat, and then he escalates violence even more. And the most terrifying part is — we, Ukrainians, never know what awaits us after these calls. Will it be another hospital? A school? A maternity ward? ⸻ I completely agree with Merz. When missiles hit a children’s cancer hospital right after a “peaceful phone call” — that’s the clearest sign: Do not call Putin. It’s not dialogue — it’s a trap. A pattern where civilians pay the price. Don’t ask why he should be called. Ask why we keep pretending it helps — when in fact, it makes things worse. 🙏 I stand with Merz’s call: diplomacy with Putin should come from strength — not from wishful thinking. https://www.reuters.com/world/putin-macron-discuss-iran-ukraine-first-phone-call-nearly-three-years-2025-07-01/?utm_source=chatgpt.com

Thank you for this comment. That’s exactly why I said that calling Putin isn’t about dialogue — it’s about playing into his narrative. He sees every such call as a win in the alternative reality he builds through cognitive warfare. And after each one — come new attacks, pressure, and manipulation. It’s also no secret that former Ukrainian president Poroshenko had close ties with Putin and often played along. It was under him that NATO accession was written into Ukraine’s Constitution — and that step, as we know, became Putin’s official pretext for launching the full-scale invasion.

What's extremely frustrating in this regard is that there are a number of things you could list after “it’s also no secret” that have been reported, talked about and so on, yet it often feels like it all falls on deaf ears...

Moreover, I’ll say this openly — it deeply frustrates me that Poroshenko is still not held accountable. He was involved in trading coal with the so-called “DNR” and “LNR,” disguising it as imports from Africa and this is no longer a secret. What feels especially unfair is that his son, who is of military age, lives safely abroad in the UK, while most Ukrainian men his age are not allowed to leave the country at all.
