I guess I started an accidental AMA on which parts of the crypto space are good and which I'm so far not excited about, along with other big picture vision questions: https://x.com/VitalikButerin/status/1827583576751181961 You should feel free to ask questions here too! Let's see if Farcaster can come up with higher-quality questions than the other app :)

“If we get lots of people using USDC, that creates a situation where it becomes easier for people to move to other more decentralized stablecoins too.” ^ this is a good specific example where a partial compromise of decentralized principles (one of the primary things you don’t support) seems very useful for spreading decentralized systems as a whole, and therefore seems net good. (I would argue that Coinbase is another, on a pretty large scale. But this is not an uncontroversial topic within the deep crypto space.) Do you have any heuristic for when compromises to decentralized principles go too far?

How can we offer decentralized access to content? Http is not good enough any more. Ipfs feels unusable when it comes to normal users (without http gateways). Thoughts?

“don’t sacrifice on the principles” but farcaster and base are not yet decentralized, and that’s why they’re so good right now I think there’s no other way you can build something as impactful and useful as that telegram probably would’ve never had a success it’s having if it was a decentralized open source app with no clear leadership and eventually, any app can just decentralize by choice right so I really don’t get it when this industry is pushing for decentralized solutions when there’s no working solution in the first place

Планируешь ли ты приезжать на русскоязычные крипто ивенты, если они будут? (Например, для иммигрантов, уехавших из России и стран СНГ в Европу и тд)

Are not you worried that in this model scanner distributors become gatekeepers? Users always pivot the to default options and few providers can easily capture the market.

How do you feel about privacy wallets like samourai wallet, should Ethereum lean into these things more or would you be concerned about putting a political target on our backs?

- thought on token curated registries for content moderation solutions? (hopefully something like community note but on Ethereum) - any other speculative mechanism with positive externalities other than prediction market? ("useful" casino)

What are your thoughts on oracle reliant protocols or just oracles in general? Do you think we can ever achieve reliable and trustless, yet performant oracles? Or will offchain oracles always be pretty centralized?

Are there applications that were good in 2014/2017/2021 Ethereum that you are no longer excited about today? Conversely, are there things that were not exciting or feasible then that are good or possible now?

I asked something here about how I could make our app more plural. I read, for example, about pairwise voting but I feel like it would change the algorithm too conceptually, no? https://warpcast.com/timdaub.eth/0x324555ab
