What's a controversial issue on which the average person who disagrees with you has better moral character than the average person who agrees with you?

I'm struggling to understand why someone would support an issue they don't think is supported by people of high moral character. I understand people disagreeing about what good moral character is, but this question reads more like "what's an issue you choose to have an immoral stance on" 🤔

Our collective carbon footprint: It’s ok to normalise flying around the world for multiple events every year (pop-up cities don’t fix this), at best for business but more often than not for the rather selfish reason of having a good time with friends whom we could’ve chosen to have made at one place.

Unfortunately that crypto is beneficial to society. By believing that accessibility of these tools is a step forward for us all, I'm inadvertently giving my vote for capitalism, even though I only consider crypto a stepping stone towards a fairer society. Most people I know who oppose crypto flat-out are also people who steadfastly believe in equal rights for all. Some oppose crypto because of instability, some because of scams and bribes, and others because it's a financial system.

if this were twitter, i’d bust out the “per capita” chart and get cheered on by a bunch of racists but this is farcaster so the answer has to incorporate product market fit to get full marks

I’m a proud gay married man, and I believe deeply in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights. But if I’m honest, I’ve met people who oppose parts of that fight—not out of hate, but because they’re trying to live with integrity according to their faith. Some of them wrestle with these issues quietly, sincerely, and with a sense of moral responsibility that I respect, even if I strongly disagree. Meanwhile, I’ve also seen people on my side be quick to label or mock without trying to understand. I’ll always stand for equality—but I’ve learned not to assume moral superiority just because someone disagrees with me.

In my circles, most are dead set against machine intelligence and blockchain technologies, I am an outlier and at the same time a lot of them go out of their way to help others. I can't say much about the moral character of those that agree w me that these can be incredible technologies as I dont know many irl, but the way the movements come across publically there are a lot of shady characters associated with them.

there's a few political concepts that I think would apply, but I'll go with fewer environmental laws and a looser mandate of national conservation that forbids construction.

Personal responsibility, self-reliance, and direct charitable engagement with communities, e.g. “I’ll help my neighbor myself” rather than “the government should help my neighbor.” The government has better economics than the individual for those cases of support. But I can’t argue with that just does it.

Opposition to capital punishment. while I may support it in extreme cases, those against it often do so from a deeply principled stance on the sanctity of life and human dignity.
