Big props to Reddit for experimenting with contributor ownership, and I know this is totally the fault of regulation and not Reddit themselves, but this made me sad.

Implementing a rolling airdrop model is a step in the right direction, yet the looming threat of cliques forming and token distribution among themselves poses significant risks.

Going public in theory: you are owned by THE PUBLIC! It's democracy and it's a free market at the same time!

Going public in practice: you are owned by Blackrock, and totally unaligned randos and lawyers collecting $6b paychecks.

Community contributor airdrops are great, but they are one-time; need a rolling model

IMO going public here is the beginning of the end for Reddit. As it was for Facebook.

Personally I’m shifting any time or energy I put into that platform over to Farcaster.

IPO: Only US citizens
ICO: No US citizens

yeah like early employees , especially if the reddit poster has been at since the first couple years. market prices often dip below institutional discount prices ? i’d look at this more like a strategy by the ipo to keep more from selling off early

I'd be more bullish about the experiment if they had gifted shares.

Rumor is the IPO killed the tokenization projects for the communities too

Sadly, in the US we can't use Coinlist or anything IPO related normal. Blocked from most airdrops as well. Really a bummer. Hoping that changes sooner than later, but the US gov loves their oversight and control a bitttt to much I think. 😑

thank you for creating Ethereum, this would not have been possible. A few weeks ago, many families in Nigeria benefited from drinking water. I also recognize the work of Zeek Community and Zksync. Ethereum is the present and future of finance

As a full time crypto worker, this definitely feels very validating. It’s so reasonable to me that internet platforms like Reddit should be owned substantially by its users, core developers, and liquidity providers. 

The current ownership structure of Reddit is no longer the best option available.

lol it’s usually the opposite in crypto tho, US gets EXCLUDED usually, we’re never the only ones eligible 😅

So I’m kinda new to crypto and trying to understand it more. Why exactly would a company choose to go public through crypto over a more traditional route? And are there certain types of companies where it would make more sense?

Kudos to Reddit for exploring new ownership models, yet it's frustrating to see regulation hinder progress. Embracing crypto offers a glimpse into a borderless economy, where creativity knows no bounds!

Non-US are left out despite being an integral part of Reddit growth.
