Capillary Effect in Space A transparent tube with a diameter of 10 mm was used for the experiment. But, unfortunately, Don does not indicate either the material from which it is made, or the liquid in the "space cup". If we assume that the tube is glass, then on Earth, due to the capillary effect, the rise in the water level would be only a few millimeters. For a more hydrophobic plastic tube, the rise would be less than a millimeter. But in microgravity, due to wetting, the liquid completely fills the tube.
