New sloptraption after a long time. Been so absorbed in vibe coding I haven’t kept up on other experimental fronts. Old school sloptraption from chathpt web chat. Currently building a better Claude writing harness I can use from CLI. This is an argument I’ve been groping for for a while. The Aha moment was recognizing that even accelerationism is just another pessimist reaction like doomerism. They’re just accelerating off what they see as a cliff in the hopes of flying rather than trying to brake hard. They’re missing the delight too. Too few people are experiencing the delights of AI, even in the core of the industry, and it’s showing up all the way up even in capital allocation. Billions and trillions being deployed by people who recognize the importance and magnitude of AI and even its intimating power, but not the sheer delight it can deliver if you use it right. https://contraptions.venkateshrao.com/p/capital-must-seek-delight

I’m interested in a general compute version of this proposition abstracted away from details of blockchains. Perhaps: Logic > long-term memory > …DRAM > “HBM” > register memory HBM in scare quotes because I don’t mean the specific hardware standard but anything at that level in the memory hierarchy. Feels like the scalability basically tracks memory hierarchy in proportion to latency, with memoryless logic as the cheapest thing?

Alex Honnold randomly climbing Taipei skyscraper while world is crashing and burning is a nice boss non sequitur move. Fully narrative capture resistant but can still compete for headlines with Greenland, Davos, Minneapolis, Clawd, etc. and win. Life goes on outside the narratives that try to corner attention.
