90% of the time when I have a false start or fail to finish something that’s 90% done, the pr-blew isn’t execution troubles. It’s illegible stakes. I get to a point where I stall and the right question is always “do I actually have meaningful stakes in seeing this through and getting it done?”
If I’m lucky I stall and ask the question at the 10% point rather than 90%. Often you hit the point in one full maker session of say 4 hours. That’s usually enough to get to 90% on an essay (my kind at least) but rarely more than 10% on anything non-writing.
Writing probably has the highest fraction of things abandoned at 90% point
