For this pickup we focused on beer cans and plastic bottles that end up on the floor and in the sewers. We might bring up the issue of damaged trash cans to the local gov. The deposits for cigarettes have significantly reduced the amount of cigarette waste, but sometimes we still find boxes thrown around.

A week after publicly picking up cigarette butts at the park, the local gov installed 19 of these. The community has picked up 2250 butts this week alone! Part of my flow goals was to create awareness and promote changes like this even if I don't work with the gov directly. What change can we inspire next? ⌐◨-◨

A few new books for the public park📚 These are from a campaign called “Let’s Better Costa Rica” and they’re like a self-guided course with daily activities on responsibility and self-esteem for young people. Can you think of incentives for people to actually pick them up if they see them at the park? 🤔

On the way home from the /flows cleanup I met this good boy. I didn’t have the kibble on me but I’m thinking about leaving the compostable bowls in secure spots that they can access 🤔 As you can see there’s also a bunch of trash where he was looking for food. Next time I will clean that up too.

The toughest part of yesterday’s cleanup was picking up one by one what felt like hundreds of cigarette butts around this bench. These guys can take up to 14 years to decompose and pose a real threat to animals.
