p.p. vs percentage (%) i think non-data folks get this wrong quite a lot. when discussing things that is inherently a percentage, there are 2 ways to describe that change. by p.p. (percentage points) or % (relative percentage) for example, if we say that 40% of Indonesians are Javanese in 2024. then, in 2025, only 39% of Indonesians are Javanese. that means the difference between 2024 and 2025 is -1 p.p. but in terms of %, it is a 2.5% decline.
