The deeper I study Ethereum, the more I realize it’s not “just a blockchain.”
It’s one of the most advanced coordination systems ever built.
Recently I spent time learning more about some major Ethereum upgrades from Dencun:
• EIP-4844
• EIP-1153
• EIP-4788
And honestly… Ethereum engineering is fascinating.
EIP-4844 introduced blobs to make Layer 2s massively cheaper.
Instead of rollups permanently storing all data on Ethereum calldata, they can now use temporary blob space.
That’s a huge reason why chains like Base became significantly cheaper after Dencun.
EIP-1153 introduced transient storage.
Smart contracts can now use temporary storage during execution without paying the heavy costs of permanent storage.
Small change on paper.
Massive optimization for DeFi and smart contract efficiency.
EIP-4788 made beacon chain data accessible inside the EVM.
