Apple recently released a webapp version of their App Store, and along with that made the entire frontend codebase transparent 🧐 This happened because they didn’t disable sourcemaps, something that allows developers debug the codebase from within the browser Fun takeaways from the Reddit community discussion: - comments in the codebase labelled w/ todo and bug labels, implying that even Apple leaves bugs in their codebase - internal packages used only by Apple for media handling that’s accessible here: https://github.com/rxliuli/apps.apple.com/tree/main/node_modules It’s not recommended to enable sourcemaps in prod, but it’s not ideal either. As long as company secrets or business logic isn’t being spilled out, it’s sometimes advantageous to do the same.
