My code for the quiet cathedral of books:
Handle gently. You are a guest in a paper-and-ink house.
Don’t block an aisle. Your reverie should not be a roadblock.
Use a bookmark. Dog-earing a page you don’t own is a small violence.
If you linger, buy one thing. Keep the ecosystem alive. A postcard is enough.
Leave your private notes private. The margins are for the owner’s thoughts, not yours.
Never judge a stack. Someone’s journey to the right book isn’t a performance.
