The Well of Ascension by Brandon Sanderson. This is the 2nd instalment in the Mistborn Trilogy.
Brandon, my man, is not as strong imo in this one as in the first (Final Empire / Mistborn) book. My main issue, which drags this book from an 8 point something down to the 7s, is the relationship between two of the main characters (Elend and Vin) it is just so annoying😅 Reminds of twilight, note that I really liked the twilight books at the time that I read them. Especially annoying / bad was the Zane addition who seems to have been added for extra conflict. Anyhow did not believe that conflict and yeah just annoying.
Everything else I really enjoyed. The extra worldbuilding, more ancient texts, and something mysterious meddling with Sazed’s studies. Just great. The siege and plots all great. Thoroughly enjoyed it and am excited to read the final book in the trilogy.
