Work up this morning. No more cold brew in the house. Decide to run to the store before my day starts. Halfway to the store phone starts ringing from a Teams call. Lead Dev calls and tells me the database is not responding. Pull into a gas station immediately. Remote into my home computer. Database is completely frozen. Tried restarting the service, errors out due to service not stopping completely. Reboot the server. Finish driving to the store. Grab coffee. Recheck the status. Database is still performing its error checking after a reboot. Drive home, get on the computer. Database loading collections into memory. Provide update to team. Database finally starts rebuilding indexes and comes up. Provide update to team, start to check how application is functioning and learn that an email went out that its back up before I check things. Boom 800 users immediately start signing in. Deal with 20 minutes of slowness as I check functionality. Everything works. Hope your Thursday is going better than mine.
