The Story of the King and the Spider Once, there was a king who lost several battles in a great war. Defeated and hopeless, he escaped from his enemies and hid in a small, dark cave. He felt completely broken  he thought he had failed his people, his soldiers, and himself. One day, as he sat in the cave, thinking about giving up, he noticed a small spider trying to climb up the cave wall. The spider tried to spin its web, but every time it climbed, it slipped and fell. The king watched closely. 1st attempt — the spider fell. 2nd attempt — fell again. 3rd, 4th, 5th — it kept falling.
