I was working full time in high school including the weekends. While my friends were at backyard keggers with questionable teenage guys, the older gay men I worked with were taking me out to the gay clubs in WEHO. This started when I was 15. Many Rocky Horror Shows in between As a cliche unsupervised genX, those men protected me and kept me safe + dressed me up and did my makeup like their own personal Barbie doll. It was incredible Rocky Horror Show is like a time stamp in my life. My trajectory might have been totally different without those guys. They are kinda why I am the way I am and losing Tim Curry feels like losing a parasocial father figure It’s just nostalgia I know but it’s my nostalgia nonetheless
