Keeping in mind that the solar power itself generates electricity without emissions, its development and deployment still depend on fossil fuels, big time.

Using fossil fuels to build and deploy things that can sustainably replace the need for using more fossil fuels sounds like the *only* smart thing we should be doing with them.

Sure. I don't disagree with that strategy. But it will require discipline and stability so we don't run out of fossil fuels before fully replacing it with solar power.
