some fun facts about podcast monetization:
- the median podcast earns $500-$1000/year
- only 1-3% of podcasts generate enough revenue to support a creator full time (>$3000/month)
- only 5-7% of podcasters who use patreon or similar crowdfunding platforms reach the $1000/month threshold
- even for podcasts that have persisted past the 18-24 month mark, only 5-8% achieve full time income status
web3 platforms like @pods @hypersub and various other apps here do a little to boost these numbers but it’s not enough
the best way to support a creator is to FUND them!
i believe we have the tech (onchain) to develop some powerful creator monetization tools but we need more people working on this and researching and thinking about this
