In the short and medium term, there’s no doubt that the next big step for DeFi will be linked to RWAs: new ways to collateralize debt, new guarantees for depositors. It’s a win-win. In the long term, it will be the globalization of scoring. Today, obtaining uncollateralized loans involves a lot of friction due to information asymmetry -each entity operates as an isolated island- creating inefficiencies for borrowers and offering few advantages for liquidity providers. I imagine something bidirectional between CeFi and DeFi, leveraging existing infrastructure + RWAs to achieve more efficient scores and cheaper loans, driven by excess liquidity flowing into the ecosystem. I’ll revisit this post in 2030 🙂
