OpenAI and Anthropic dropped competing coding-focused AI models on the same day. OpenAI has released GPT-5.3-Codex, a new version of its agentic coding model that the company says runs about 25% faster and is better at handling long-running tasks with interactive user control. Anthropic, in turn, has launched Claude Opus 4.6, adding a “agent teamwork” mode for running tasks in parallel and expanding the context window to one million tokens for its flagship model. GitHub has updated its Agent HQ so developers can spin up both of these new models alongside Copilot directly inside their repositories and in Visual Studio Code.
