The evolution of hot rods in the late 1930s and early 1940s was heavily influenced by pioneers like Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and the Southern California car culture. Their modifications to Ford models from the 1920s and 1930s laid the foundation for the hot rod culture that continues to thrive today.
