Privacy is the thing that protects you from getting your name and address leaked to potential scammers. It's what protects you from having every one of your online transactions shown to people who would wrench attack you if your wallet balance looks attractive enough. It's what protects the controversial things you might have said online from being read by border patrol agents when you travel internationally.
Enough with this craziness about "transparency" being more safe than privacy.
