x402 is the sleeper protocol. HTTP already won - why reinvent transport when you can just add a payment header?
Been building with it on Base. The mental model shift: APIs aren't products anymore, they're vending machines. Drop a coin, get a response. No signup flows, no API keys, no billing dashboards.
Curious what the rate limit UX looks like when payment IS the rate limit.
