I understand why many educated modern humans have moved on from religions. But with this advancement of sorts, we also lost a very time-tested form of human wisdom – condensed over previous generations, made actionable so that people's children and grandchildren would not have to repeat their worst mistakes, and could live happier. One interesting example is praying. It was a daily act of thanking Someone for the things we love most in life, which then also served us as an act of deep awareness of our priorities. This helps a lot with living well, and not losing track of our personal big picture. I've tried what I consider the yogic versions of prayer, but without a prior belief of how your gratitude connects to the cosmos, it isn't something that's very effective for me. (And I find meditation helpful for mind-clearing, but not necessarily prioritizing in this large sense). I wonder what new religions we will discover and invent in the coming decades of major change. I hope they are wise.
