Some advice to avoid getting social hacked: Ideally, don’t take inbound meetings without a trusted referral. If you do take an inbound meeting: 1. Require them use *your* meeting provider of choice (eg Google or Zoom) 2. Ask them to turn their video on. 3. Do not download *anything* from them under any circumstance. Two people have tried to scam us in the last few weeks. Very elaborate, but sticking to these rules rebuffed them pretty easily. I expect this stuff to increase with our token value. Crypto not awesome in this way. But it’s hard for people to do much to you if you control the terms of the environment. Be a little paranoid.

I almost lost my first wallet that reached 250k to a scam degen airdrop. Wasn’t paying attention in line at a restaurant. Ever since then, the rule is I just don’t connect my wallet to anything at all lol.

Don't use the same machine for dev work or key management to take calls. Don't take calls while connected to important remote resources (if on the same connection, ideally, don't be ever). Don't plug in different purpose devices in the same power source (use a scrubber/constant draw mains for key management devices). Be extremely paranoid.

I also don’t open Pitch Decks or funding offers, they can be embedded with malware (unless from highly trusted source and even then will have impersonation of your sources!) ask them to screen shot anything like this and just dm the screengrab. Safer than opening anything. Calendly links also are another favourite of the scammer, so scheduling old fashion way and providing the meeting invite yourself is better. Never use Zoom links or such sent to you or embedded. One instinctive or rushed decision to click something can be catastrophic, I’ve seen it happen to a lot of folk. Can never be too careful!

I recommend that everyone takes a class with "Boring Security" - it's free and there are different levels. Usually "too good to be true" is also a good sign. I was very paranoid when the head of Gnosis Pay helped me with onboarding, because my process got stuck. I asked around and was sceptical until the end. Turned out to be true though. The head of Gnosis Pay led me through the onboarding while at home with his newborn child, because he was interested to see how the new process works. Crypto can be awesome like that, too.

Some insidious shit A while ago scammers hit me with a fake job interview and tried to get to to download a scam zoom client. Only noticed because the domain was slightly off. It was like zoom.meet.us instead of zoom.us. Nothing more infuriating

Great suggestions. My rule #4: Never connect wallet while on a call. Paranoia is a survival trait.

If only they'd put all that time and "creativity" into building something real instead of finding new ways to rip people off …..
