When talking a product, such as a therapeutic, if the researcher has it in hand already, it will likely be too expensive for the DAO to fund
“Reducing an idea to practice” - making something physical - is what drives value. Once that happens, the researcher will rightly start to value their project more. Historically they will go raise money which will be $1M+ which puts it out of range for DAOs.
It is better for DAOs to be part of the inventive step such that they can control the project and leverage the DAO’s unique advantage of having a large group of passionate stakeholders.
