It's probably unnecessary if you already have a rangefinder of some kind. The android smart watch app used to have the ability to do some low level shot editing and tally up putts but now it only functions as a rangefinder. It also uses your phone as the gps waypoint and not the watch which can be annoying.
Yeah, I think arccos partnered with apple so the apple watch app has way more functionality. I'd probably just stick with the Garmin for ranges. If you're a decent golfer you can probably just leave your phone in your bag but if you take a few shots to get out of a bunker you may need to do some edits in the app.
I've been using it for the last 6 months or so and I love it. I'm not sure if it's improved my game or not but I'm a huge nerd for all of the stats. I use it with my pixel watch as a range finder and it works great. Shot tracking isn't perfect, it took a few rounds to figure out how to make sure it was accurate.
