All "services" provided by the government could be provided more efficiently and at a higher level of quality by non government organizations, businesses, and individuals on a voluntary basis. In exchange for these services and "protection", you give up your freedoms, and your time/labor. This arrangement is not voluntary, it is slavery. The government does not protect you, more often than not they actually put you in danger. The entire system is designed to extract the maximum amount of value from it's citizens through taxation and inflation that it can without anyone revolting. This is a delicate balance, as citizens outnumber government by a great deal. So they make it seem like you have some control over the arrangement, by holding meaningless "elections". No matter what outcome these elections produce, the result has always been the same, bigger government and less rights. The truth is uncomfortable and many people will choose the slavery they know over freedom that is unknown.
