Uniswap faces challenges in achieving scalability, particularly in its ability to handle large volumes of transactions. The Ethereum network, on which Uniswap operates, has high transaction fees and limited throughput, especially during periods of congestion. These issues can make trading on Uniswap expensive and slow, limiting its appeal to users who want fast and cheap transactions. To address these scalability challenges, Uniswap has begun integrating with Layer 2 solutions like Optimism and Arbitrum, which offer faster and cheaper transactions by processing them off the Ethereum mainnet. These solutions could provide a path toward greater scalability for Uniswap.
