How do you know that a 100% tech team delivered something? Very easy: They did the hardest part: * airdrop ✅ * mini-app that goes with the token ✅ They didn't do the simplest part: writing copy 😅 * what is wallet-connect? * what is the token about? * what value does it have in the WC ecosystem? * why should I stake it? Can non-devs do something? :)
I got the $wtc airdrop and it asked me to stake it but… why? Is $wtc a wallet(cant)connect memecoin? Is there any utility? And the fc page for it is blank 😕 I thought that’s maybe where I’d learn more about it

cc @linda The airdrop feature of FC is technically so neat that teams tend to forget "the easy" part of just explaining the airdrop and its context :)

the disconnect between engineering and bd/marketing is nothing new. They are two competing trains of thought. As an engineer, some of the perspectives I've seen from BD/marketing folk have just been downright insane. But then im sure they can say the same about some engineers. The strongest teams are those who can balance these two sides and make them work together.

100% on point. Shipping quality software is just hard!

Shared more info separately announced day before (ack not everyone will read it), balance of not overwhelming the user with too much info in the claim flow but I hear your point (don't think it's fair to say it's a result of tech)
The next upcoming airdrop offer to Farcaster users is @walletconnect! It will be 50k $WCT total to ~3.5k users (factoring in mix of # of onchain txns, mini app usage, and non-spam follower count) The token is on OP mainnet. You can learn more about it directly here and can stake it for more rewards and participate in

My comment on the "tech team shipping something" shouldn't be taken too seriously :) I actually plead guilty of doing the same mistake myself sometimes 😅 Shipping quality software is hard and, despite my stupid jokes, I have the greatest amount of respect for those who ship 🫡 TL;DR I just wanted to convey that it felt like a missed opportunity to educate me about the token I am being graciously sent.

* why did they rebrand the whole company from WalletConnect to "Reown" only to launch a WalletConnect token right after? * why isn't there a law yet that forces disclosure of token ownership, warrants, and lockup schedules?

Agreed, this was a major missed opportunity to introduce folks to @walletconnect that may not have had prior experience. And if you are going to ask recipients to stake, you need to tell them why. Personally I know what wallet connect is and I think it’s pretty valuable tech rn … at the same time, having claimed the airdrop ( after hiccups and needing to restart Warpcast) I still don’t know what the plans are for $WCT. These @warpcast airdrops are a fantastic opportunity to educate and onboard new users. Unfortunately they missed the opportunity with this one…

you have the option not to stake. Got it before on my EVM just by simply using their feature. I think @farcaster is planning to incorporate it in this app which is cool.
