US government job openings are plummeting:
Government job openings declined -89,000 in November, to 695,000, the lowest since February 2021.
Since the July 2022 peak, available vacancies in the government have dropped -532,000.
They have now fully retraced to early-2019 levels.
Furthermore, the hiring rate fell -0.3 percentage points in November, to 1.2%, the lowest since the 2020 pandemic.
Excluding 2020, this is the lowest reading since August 2014, and in-line with 2008 levels.
Hiring in the government is coming to a halt.
