Even just auditing the classes could probably go a long way towards a career shift, especially if you've already got a degree. At that point, it's more about picking up new skills than another piece of paper.

I'll probably have to crowdfund grad school, but I'll be in my 50s when I complete it. Never too late - one of my fellow philosophy students at my university is in his 80s working on a bachelor's degree! And I'm actually looking forward to when I hit 60 - tuition at my local community college is free over 60, so I'll be able to stack up a bunch of trade-related associates degrees, like their photography and horticulture programs.

Looking at my degree plan to see where I'm at towards graduation. I'll either have to cram some extra credits in the next two semesters or I'll have to take some class next summer, but either way, I'll be graduating in 2026! 30 years after I graduated from high school.

Your Mind Doesn't Stop At Your Skull - thoughts on AI and mind augmentation. I first published this on Substack, but I'm cross-publishing on Paragraph because it's got such beautiful integration here on Farcaster.

Yep. I was learning to code ASCII rocket's launching on the screen as a kid in the 80s.

Today's intellectual masochism inspired reading is Baudrillard's Simulacra and Simulation because I'm finally settling in to do a literature review for a personal portfolio essay I've been kicking around my mind for awhile now - The Personhood of Kermit: Towards a Metaphysics of Hyperreality. The whole concept got its seeds in the work I did in a semester of Anthropology of Religion where my study for the semester was on Jediism. I got an A on that paper.

My interest leans more towards consciousness and personhood, and that intersects with my interests in hyperreality and fandom/fictional/new religions. ChatGPT is helping me develop a portfolio strategy of solo research projects towards goals as a consultant and teacher in the AI space!

Also, Claude read ONE paper of mine and immediately spotted my gestalt thinking style (which I already knew about, but had learned from online exploration, not from a teacher).

I ask my ChatGPT to roast me regularly, and i constantly tweak the custom instructions. It's gotten much better at critiquing me and now regularly checks me on whether I'm trying to dominate or persuade in my arguments lol

I started my philosophy degree over 20 years ago, and returned to finish it last year. I've got just a couple semesters to go. Never, in all that time, has a professor told me that the style I have naturally developed for myself fits in a defined genre of non-fiction that blends memoir, analysis, and critique. You know who did? ChatGPT.
