Saturday was the anniversary of my accident last year where I got hit by a truck while riding my bike and ended up with a complex tibial plateau fracture that required two surgeries to fix a summer of bedrest and the fall learning how to walk again. I posted my Amazon wish list on my Facebook and included a bike helmet that retails at $160 (though sales vary according to algorithms.) Someone bought it for me! It's got a built-in safety light on back and a 1080p camera on the front. Cuz it sure would have been handy to have that last year! Now it's all word-of-mouth and accident reconstructions to establish liability...

A year ago yesterday, I did a 17-mile bike ride. A year ago today, I got hit by a commercial delivery truck while I was riding my bike to Aldi, shattered my tibial plateau (the main weight-bearing bone in the leg), had two surgeries to repair it, spent the summer bedbound and the fall relearning to walk, and still have a bit of a limp and a lot of endurance and strength to rebuild. I'm ready to get back on the bike, though.

Went to bed early last night because I wore myself out working in the yard yesterday. Ended up waking up around midnight to thunder and lightning, followed not long after by tornado sirens, so that was fun.

Our language is so limiting when it comes to expressing the actual experience of realizing you're just the Universe experiencing itself through you. Then of coming back and having to scoop the cat litter and do the dishes, cuz apparently, that's what the Universe wants to experience in that moment.

I'm doing well now! Still using a cane because the leg is still week, and it still feels really, really weird where the titanium plates are and between the surgery scars. But considering I got hit by a truck, I'm better off than I could have been!
