19 years old Melanie Perkins became a billionaire just because she sought to make graphic design simple to use. Born to a teacher and a Malaysian engineer, Melanie always thought that traditional design's learning curve was slow, unnecessarily complicated and tough. With this simple quest to make design simple, she left university at 19 to pursue a start-up with Cliff Obrecth. First she created Fushion Books, an online drag and drop editor and template library that allowed schools to create yearbooks which became an instant success in Australia because it was HELPFUL. And then going on to partner with former Google designer Cameron Adams, Melanie created a simple, web based alternative to design - CANVA. Currently worth $5.8billion and given to philanthropy with her partner and Canva Co-founder, Cliff Obrecht. Melanie is a reminder that the simplest ideas will always win, if they are rooted in making life better. The next billion dollar starts up will have a common theme - MAKING LIFE EASIER.
