The main culprit in the 60,000 Bitcoin case, Qian Zhimin, is scheduled for trial in London on September 29. Domestic victims may need to seek redress on their own.
For victims in China, in the UK's civil recovery proceedings targeting the proceeds of crime, they need to "seek redress on their own."
According to the prosecution's application, under the UK's Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA), the Director of Public Prosecutions has initiated civil recovery proceedings for unlawful property in respect of the assets seized in the Qian Zhimin case and the Jian Wen case. Once a civil recovery order is granted by the court, the massive amount of Bitcoin can be "confiscated and forfeited," and transferred to a designated trustee of the UK law enforcement agency.
Meanwhile, another civil route - applying for the overseas liquidation of Blue Sky Gerei Company in the UK - has seen no substantial progress to date.
