I read the article and hope none of those projects succeed in their current form. As the author remarks, the majority of them are based on the principle of strong IQ elitism and unironical longing for cultural/philosophical conformity. Who wants to live in a city-state full of self-entitled snobby digital nomads?

Peak irony if post-2017 builders like the Euler team or any other defi app that builds on centralized curator model signs this. What this space is lacking is not words but actions and skin in the game. You can forget mainstream finance adoption if you don't at least build apps that give you the same insurance model on your financial assets as they do. Puff, it's all gone, in the name of trustlessness will not stick for this target group, maybe for a few degens.
