GM I’m Swickie! And all of my work centers on preservation: of art, cultural memory, & the human body. 😳 I’m a writer and longevity biotech fellow exploring the science of aging, & what it reveals about time, memory, meaning, & you. Two main reasons I decided to lean into my longevity & biotech hyper fixation (beyond being obsessed with mortality & consciousness since childhood)? 1. Found out about my biological family in 2019 through 23andMe 🤣 Was raised thinking a parent was real parent til that point. 2. In 2024 they discover I have a heart condition by accident. Passed from Dr to Dr & gaslit. Said I was fine. But I was literally dying. Only one listened. I worsened 11% in 6 months. By surgery day, I was 3% over the threshold as life-threatening. I believe everybody has the right to know & understand their health & their options, no matter what their financial situation. I’m lucky to heave great health insurance. But if I had listened to the first round of doctors, I would be dead right now. That isn’t speculation, it’s what my surgeon told me. We all have a right to know, understand, treat & look forward to healing and preserving our bodies. Here’s a picture of my heart 🫀
