I always have a book ready on my nightstand to read in bed, one that I know won't induce panic, surprise or anger. The kind of book that will help me wind down from the day and still my mind.
Studies show that cracking a book reduces stress, helps keep your memory sharp, and increases empathy. Basically, reading makes you a better person — and it can also help you sleep. For me, I prefer to read children's fiction before sleep.
