there are ~13k+ nodes running the @ethereum network across the world! these nodes run execution layer clients (geth, nethermind, besu, erigon, reth) and consensus layer clients (lighthouse, teku, prysm, lodestar, nimbus, grandine) there are some key things here: 1) the 13k+ is a publicly visible number. tracking tools can’t see all nodes and can only see the ones reachable by crawlers. the actual number of nodes could be much higher than 13k. 2) no client should exceed ~33% share. clients like geth (38%) and lighthouse (43%) contribute more than others. 3) if any one of the majority clients is affected by a bug, it can impact all the nodes using that client. so, client diversity matters and the aim should be to run minority clients. you can analyse these nodes and their client types in real time here : ethernodes.org etherscan.io/nodetracker nodewatch.io probelab.io supermajority.info
